Simply because your friend is pregnant does not mean that she should be excluded from your wedding. Before you begin shopping for maternity bridesmaid dresses, you should ensure that your friend is comfortable being in your wedding.
Depending upon her stage of pregnancy, she may be unable to perform the duties of a bridesmaid. If she is comfortable doing so, it is time to begin selecting a dress for her. The first idea that you should keep in mind is the style of the dress. A dress with an empire waistline is always considered to be flattering to a pregnant woman. Another popular style of dress is the A line dress, but this may not be the most feasible option if your friend is in her third trimester of pregnancy.
The second aspect that you should keep in mind when considering when shopping for maternity bridesmaid dresses is the materials the dress will be constructed from. Silk crepe is an ideal fabric choice for a maternity dress as is silk shantung. These fabrics have a high level of comfort for their wearers. If your wedding is going to be along the lines of a black tie affair, then you may want to choose a dress that is constructed of chenille. A jersey matte has also recently been introduced to the market that has the appearance of silk. All of the aforementioned fabrics tend to drape beautifully over a body, whether or not the wearer is pregnant.
Size is also going to be a factor that needs to be taken into consideration when choosing maternity bridesmaid dresses. The dress will need to be ordered in a larger size than your pregnant bridesmaid currently is. If the dress is too large when the date of the wedding arrives, a tailor or a seamstress can adjust it. It is easier for a dress to be taken in rather than let out so do not worry about ordering the dress in too large of a size. Ideally, the final fitting for your pregnant bridesmaid’s dress should be as close to the wedding date as possible. This will ensure that the dress fits in the most flattering manner possible.
