Looking to spend less than $100 for Prom?

I wasn’t happy when my mom told me that I couldn’t have the dress I wanted for prom last year. In fact, I ended up throwing a fit, which was embarrassing. Mom told me I had $150 to spend, and I thought it was impossible, but luckily I went on the web ’cause my friend Michelle told me that I could even find prom dresses under $100.
Now, I’m not overweight, and I thought I was going to have to find some ugly dress made for plus size girls, but thankfully, no. Not to be rude, but I wanted a nice looking dress and not some splotchy colored reject from 5 years ago. I have to look good for my boyfriend, right? Some of the places I looked had all the cool dresses for $200 and up, and I was getting discouraged, when I found a couple of sites with under $100 prom dresses.
I ended up choosing a sheer, frilly-looking thing in February of last year, and when I went to order it, the company said it was sold out! Now I was really getting depressed and desperate. I begged my mom to up my limit to $200, but she refused, telling me that my hair, limo, and all that stuff would probably cost $500 or more with everything. Even though I promised her I’d work it off, I don’t think she was listening, and stuck me to my budget.
It took another week of searching the stores and looking online, and I finally figured out that I needed to call the companies and check on the specific dresses I was looking to buy to see if they were in stock. At the end, I found another nice one that came in just below what I was able to afford, and I snatched it up in mid February. I can’t believe that girls buy these dresses so early on! I mean, prom isn’t even until April here.
Anyway, it turns out that I ended up looking pretty hot in my dress, I must say. My mom was happy, my dad was oblivious, and compared to a couple of my friends, I actually ended up saving about 300 bucks by looking for prom dresses under $100 and sticking to my guns – well, actually my mom’s pocketbook guns.
Peace out, girls! Enjoy prom. I’m going to senior prom this year, and I’m cool with my mom’s same restrictions, ’cause I know I can find the dress I want.
Hi, I’m Aubrey, and I was so thankful to save money on my junior prom dress, I decided to help give other girls advice on finding prom dresses under $100 so they can save money, too.

[ad#250]
This is the third installment of our affordable prom dress series theme. In our last two talks we drew our inspiration from a super affordable Marilyn Monroe Prom theme look and an inexpensive red carpet prom theme inspired by Jennifer Lopez.
We were checking out the sales over at 4prom.com and fell in love with our next dress! Today’s we’re going to do a Goddess Prom Theme!
The shape and fit of this gown by LaFemme (style # 13691) is breath taking. The white satin…gold embellished bust and straps finished off by the low cut back, you will look and feel heavenly! At a sales price of just $199.00, we are pleaseantly surprised at how affordable it is. You’ll be getting your moneys worth here!

We still can’t get over how gorgeous this dress is. It’s almost too good to ruin with silly things like shoes and jewelry! But since you have to, at the very least – wear shoes…we found a really cute pair for you!

We found this deal at Amazon.com – for just $36.70 it was too good to pass up!
Get that look: Jennifer Lopez inspired for $300

Our next prom look is inspired by Jennifer Lopez and her gorgeous Golden Globes dress. How fitting was it to wear the color gold to the Golden Globes? We just want to start by saying that this is a very mature dress, between the plunging neckline and the totally bare back – it’s imperative that you make sure you are wearing the right undergarments, sticky tape to keep the dress in place, and don’t get too excited on the dance floor!
We went back to one of our favorite online prom stores for inspiration! Unique-Vintage.com has an amazing collection of gowns that are stylish, chic and inexpensive. So we’re starting with this piece:
Available at Unique-Vintage.com for just $238

This designer inspired piece by Faviana can be purchased in sizes 2-14. It’s a stretch jersey lame material – which translates to super slinky and super sexy!
Shoes:
We’re unable to see J.Lo’s feet – but we’ll just assume that her shoes are equally fab. With this dress we’re going to actually advice AGAINST a high or stiletto heel. Our personal experience tells us that with this type of material – a heel that’s too high will cause snags. The dress is likely to get caught in the heel. But we know some of you diva’s won’t leave the house unless the heel is at least 4inches! So we’ve got two options for you – both are very affordable and from Amazon.com

This is a very simple gold sandal with a roughly 3inch heel. With all the drama in the dress, there really isn’t a need to go overboard with the shoe. You can grab this at Amazon.com (link below) for just $46.95
Colorful Creations Women’s Shadow Prom Shoes
Now if you absolutely insist on a higher heel and more “jazz” – check out this one by Carlos Santana! The shoe is hot! It’s so hot that it may actually take away from the dress (in our opinion at least). However, you can definitely wear it again, with the other shoe – you’ll likely toss it in your closet and not think twice about it. Either way, at just $42.99 it’s beyond affordable.

Carlos by Carlos Santana Fling Leather Sandals
Once again, you don’t want to over-do the accessories here. Definitely don’t wear a necklace, a drop or chandelier style earring would be very flattering as well. We’ve found these sparklely gold bangle bracelets from www.PinkCherie.com for just $20
So lets recap:
Dress: $238.00 at Unique-Vintage.com
Shoes: $42.00 at Amazon.com
Bangle Bracelets: $20 at PinkCherie.com
Total: $300
