1. Be Genuine: Although Homecoming nominations are driven by popularity, it’s important to be sincere and genuine with your classmates. No one likes a snob or a jerk, your popularity doesn’t give you the right to be mean to others. At the end of the day, your reputation will precede you, show people that you deserve their vote through your actions.

2. Use Social Networks to Campaign: Use Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to your advantage. Create groups that your fellow classmates can join to help support you. Your groups, tweets and bulletin posts should be fun and energetic. Don’t allow any drama or negativity into your group because people may assume that you’re the cause of it. You want to be Homecoming Queen or King, not Drama Queen or King!

3. Form a campaign team: Pair up with someone who is also vying to be on the Homecoming Court and campaign together. For example, if you are campaigning for Homecoming Queen, pair up with a guy who is campaigning for King. Create fliers and social networking groups to promote the two of you as a pair. Or perhaps you want to be Homecoming King and have a sister in a lower grade who would like to be the Homecoming princess of her class, team up with your sibling to help build the exposure of both of you.

4. Hang out with everyone: It’s important to be popular if you want to be on the Homecoming Court, but you have to be popular not only within your own class and circle, but with the rest of the school as well. Be friendly to everyone, even if they aren’t a part of your normal inner circle.

5. Look and act your best at all times: Everyone notices the attractive guy or girl – it’s just natural to do so. Looks are going to be important in getting the votes to be a part of the court. Now this doesn’t mean that you have to look like a super model, but a neat appearance is important. The same thing goes for your personality as well.
