Body Type
Body type is a very significant consideration in looking for a prom dress particularly online. You must have a green prom dress that fits your body type. Choose a dress that will suit your body type and show off your best features. Choices of dresses for various body types are:
Straight – Green prom dresses that are body hugging doesn’t fit in this type. To help augment or add curves and volumes, consider an A-line gown that’s slightly fitted. Dresses with open shoulders and having a flared skirt can also be a good choice.
Hourglass – Having this type is lucky enough because they look good in almost anything they wear. Wearing halter or strapless gown and dresses having sashes and cinched waists are also good.
Pear Shaped – You can consider straight cut, A-line gowns as well as empire waists to elongate the torso and the legs, providing a balanced and tall appearance.
Rounded – In this type, consider wearing flattering dresses like an empire cut ones. Also dresses with low neckline and drop waist are also a good choice. Low neckline dresses enhance the bust while drop waist style helps lengthen the torso.

We wanted to take a moment to focus prom dress styles for pear shaped women, specifically – cocktail dresses.
Silhouettes of a pear shaped figure comprises of thin shoulders and wide hips. Pear shaped women are indeed curvy but because they tend to be more heavy on the bottom, finding flattering dresses can be difficult. While selecting a dress for pear shaped figure choose a flowing skirt or gown. It decently flows over your hips giving you a slimming flattering look.
One of the best tricks to hide this if you so choose is to draw attention towards the assets. For pear shaped women this is often the legs or neck. It’s good to wear a dress with plunging neckline that draws attention from the bottom to top part. Also visually it balances your figure.
Avoid dresses having embellishments or embroidery or any other design on hips or around it. It looks more bulging thus giving a heavy look. Same on the top will work very nicely, as it also counterbalances the body proportion. Thus embroidery or embellishments in dresses, skirts or gowns should be only on top part.
The color of the dress can bring the most out of you. Go for solid dark colors for accentuating you. Especially dark color on the bottom part is very essential for the elegant look.
If you have a nice waist accentuate it. Wear dress with nice belt, sash or embellishment on the waist. It will automatically de-emphasize hips. Also corset dresses is a good choice. Full skirt with twitched waist will look good.
Prints are also a great way for attaining a fabulous look. But large prints can destroy your entire image. Pear shaped figure should always choose small prints on the dress. Because large prints draw attention and add bulk to the area you want to de-emphasize.
Avoid bias cut gowns, as they are figure hugging and is best suited for thin and slim figures.
Any type of cocktail dress will beautify you, if you possess confidence and sense of style. Also remember preference is not always preferred, accenting features is more important.
