Eyeshadow Tips and Tricks – How to Apply Eye Shadow
Eye shadow is perhaps the most beloved cosmetic of creative makeup artists. Since eyes is the most important focal point of the face, the eye makeup techniques and choice of colors for eyeshadow should suit the shape and color of your eyes.
When it comes to eyeshadow tips, they seem to be everywhere. From teenage magazines to their over fifty counterparts, countless pages of women’s magazines have been devoted to the subject. A quick Google search will bring up more than 733,000 hits on the subject. With so many resources available when it comes to eyeshadow tips, you’d think that more people would have a handle on the situation. Instead, it seems like I can’t walk down the street for five minutes without seeing an eyeshadow disaster. That said, I’m going to outline some of the basic eyeshadow dos and don’ts so you can make sure you’re never a fashion faux pas.
The first of my eyeshadow tips is to blend it well. If you’re using more than one color, make sure to blend them all together. The best is to use three colors: the base color, main color and highlighter. Put on the base color first, then the main color. Finally, highlight the crease of your eyes. It’s also important to bring out the color in your eyes, whether it be by matching it or contrasting it. Don’t put any color on your brow bone, as that will make you look like more of a drag queen than debutante.

Here are some eye shadow tips to call your own.
* Dont over do it. The first rule of applying eye shadow is not to over do the amount that you apply. You want a great look for your eyes but you do not want to turn into an old lady with layers of eye shadow on your eyes. Instead, go for a minimal look and it will pay off with an amazing look.
* Dark or light? There are many ways in which to apply your eye shadow. Most will apply a darker shade of eye shadow to the area right above the eyelashes. Then, right under the eyebrow, apply a lighter color. You can mix and match the colors that fit with your tastes. You can even apply a thin layer of a darker eye shadow under the eye right next to your lower eyelashes. This will give a more dramatic look.
Eyeshadow Application Tips
- Before using eyeshadow, use a little powder on the eyelid as a base.
- Eyeshadow is available in many shades. On black eyes, chocolate, green or mauve shades are preferred.
- Eyeshadow is commonly found in powder form but it is also available in cream with a sponge-tip wand and in crayons.
- Eyeshadow should be used for night make-up.
- Eyeshadow Brushes and Textures
- Use a fluffy, round, soft brush to apply your shadow over the entire eyelid. You need a sloped, flat brush for applying different shades.
- Creamy eyeshadow applies easily with a nylon concealer brush. It works best on younger women, as it tends to accentuate the skin structure.
- Loose powder as a base color is great for mature eyes because there is no shimmer.
Eyeshadow tips are great for people who like to experiment with makeup. Mix and match and discover a variety of looks for a variety of wonderful occasions.

How to Choose the Right Foundation Color

Many women of various ages have difficulty in choosing the correct foundation color for their skin tone. Have you ever noticed a woman that appears to look slightly orange or even pink? Oh! And have you ever seen a woman whose neck is a completely different color than her face? These types of problems generally occur when a woman does not understand the concept of her underlying skin tone.
Before you head off to Walgreen’s to grab a foundation, make certain you know which one of the following basic skin tones is your very own. Foundations at the Chain Drug Stores or Mass Merchandisers such as Target are wonderful places to purchase foundations as long as you know your exact shade. Most packaging in these stores is not conducive to choosing an appropriate color for your skin tone.
The Basic skin tones are Warm, Cool and Neutral. Those skin tones are fairly self y explanatory although I will go into a little further detail to make it easy for you to determine which your skin tone is. When you think of warm you should gravitate towards gold, golden yellows, bronzes, burnt oranges. At this point….Try holding up an article of clothing in one of the warm toned shades to see if it enhances your natural beauty. In some cases you will actually see yellow, or an orange red in your skin tone which is a dead on clue that you are warm toned. My personal feeling is that it is much easier to spot a true cooled toned girl. Oftentimes you will see the blue or blue green skin tones thru very thin skin on a cool toned face. Think Silver, Blue and very rosey blue pinks. You will also want to look for veins near the skins service that are that same blue or blue green skin tone. Now on to the Best…Neutral. Do you look great in Pure Beige? You lucky girl when it comes to color cosmetics and clothes! You will only need to be careful to purchase a truly beige foundation.

In the world of foundations you will find that most seem to have a bit of yellow which will work on the bulk of the population. Matching foundation will take a little bit of time and I believe a trip to a department store or Cosmetic consultant. Try before you buy is my #1 rule and I would also recommend viewing the color in natural light. Otherwise, you will end up with a ridiculous cosmetic graveyard of foundations while continuing to shop for the perfect foundation. YIKES! Do not make that mistake.
Foundation is meant to only enhance your natural beauty. Take your time….Know your stuff or if needed consult a professional in your pursuit to find the perfect foundation that will compliment your skin.

Tips For A Flawless Tan For Your Prom
Author: Differin Staff
Sitting in the sun-or a tanning bed-is a major no-no. Make bronze from a bottle as natural as bronze from the beach with these top tips!
Take some time
Don’t apply self-tanner when you’re in a hurry. A rush job can cause streaks and spots. And definitely don’t apply the day of the prom; two or three days before is better.
Always exfoliate
Use a body scrub, loofah or plain-old washcloth to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and help self-tanner spread on more smoothly and last longer. Pay extra attention to rough areas like hands, wrists, elbows, knees, wrists, ankles and feet.
Defuzz first
Shaving gets skin even smoother than exfoliating; do it before applying self-tanner not after, which can remove some of your color.
Even it out
Rub hands together after putting tanner in your palms to spread the solution evenly in each hand.
Smooth on circular
Once self-tanner starts soaking into skin, use circular motions to spread it around; different directions help blend better than linear lines.
Work your way up
Doing your upper body first can cause streaks or spots when bending over to apply to your lower body. Start with your feet and legs and work your way up.
Follow the sun’s lead
When self-tanning your face, apply where sun would hit naturally-nose, cheeks, middle of the chin and forehead-then blend by moving toward your hairline.
Practice patience
Wait eight hours after tanning before putting on lotion, showering,
sweating or wearing tight-fitting clothes. Wait three hours before applying makeup.Extra Credit: Use lots and lots of lotion!
After the eight-hour mark, moisturize skin like mad! Self tanner is dehydrating so lots of lotion will make color last a lot longer!Moisturize smart
Moisturizer prevents self-tanner from soaking into skin; use it only on areas you don’t want to get unnaturally tan like heels, ankles, tops of toes, knee caps and elbows.
Go with gloves
Orange palms are a dead giveaway that our tan isn’t natural. Snug, disposable drugstore gloves can help keep palms clear.
