I am a huge fan of the Tony Bowls collection of formal gowns. His pieces are the epitome of feminity meets glamour. As a designer of womens formal wear, he has mastered the art of flattering the female body. His gowns have a way with the body, he knows how to accentuate your every curves – and if you have an hourglass body shape - girl will you look great!
The Tony Bowls formal gowns collection for the 2010 and 2011 seasons are quite diverse. While it contains elements of styles that are quite popular this season; however, his collection is distinctly its own entity. This collection featured twenty different looks, and each one is unforgettable. His formal gowns range in colors from white to purple to turquoise. Unlike other designers this season, the Tony Bowls formal gowns collection opted to work with pure white, rather than off white or ivory shades. Other colors included bright shades of purple, from lilac to deep violet. Most designers this season are working with navy blue; however, Mr. Bowls has chosen not. His collection did feature seven dresses in various shades of blue. However, these shades were of turquoise, aquamarine, and teal.
The silhouettes of the Tony Bowls formal gowns collection for 2010 is highly formfitting. The mermaid style is prominently featured in the majority of his collection. There are several form fitting dresses with Grecian draping, but it is tight rather than flowing. The one element each of the gowns has in common is the fact that they all reach the floor in length. About half of the dresses in this collection feature high slits along the thigh. If a person is self conscious about their legs, this will be one collection that they will shy away from.
The necklines of this collection are widely varied. Approximately one third of the gowns are strapless. However, there are gowns that feature one shoulder, spaghetti straps, and sweetheart necklines. The fabrics used for the gowns encompass a wide range, from satin to silk to polyester. There is one dress that is constructed of tulle. Tony Bowls allows the gowns that have a bright sheen to their fabric to speak for themselves. These dresses feature little detailing. Rather, Mr. Bowls allows the dramatic cut and fabrics of the dress to speak for themselves. The few gowns that do feature detailing have it at the waistline, and there is one dress that feature a lace overlay. Overall, this collection is bright, funky, and very “in your face”. It is not designed to appeal to a shy, retiring personality. However, his collection’s unique personality will be exactly what appeals to his younger fan base.
